-

-
- Nope, you misunderstood, I was talking about the price-difference, not the
- price itself. Let's say you've got a SCSI drive for 1000 DM and I can get a
- IDE drive of the same size for 700 DM. The price difference is 300 DM, which
- makes the IDE drive:
-
- (1000-700)/700 * 100% = 42% cheaper (with the IDE price as 100%)
-
- or you could say:
-
- (1000-700)/1000 * 100% = 30% cheaper (with the SCSI price as 100%)
-
- If the IDE drive had cost me 500 DM it would be:
-
- (1000-500)/500 * 100% = 100% cheaper (with the IDE price as 100%)
-
- You could for example use the 100% figure I got here to say things like:
-
- The SCSI drive is 100% MORE expensive than the IDE drive (so it would cost you
- an *additional* 500*100% = 500 DM).
-
- I admit that the figures can easily be misinterpreted so let me rephrase my
- statement:
-
- 'In Europe (Germany) IDE drives are usually 25-100% less expensive *than*
- similair sized SCSI drives, in other words if the price-difference is 100% it
- means you could buy 2 IDE drives for the price of 1 SCSI drive'
-
- In other words you quoted me out of context, as from my message it was clear
- that I was comparing the price difference between IDE and SCSI drives. You
- make it look like IDE drives in general are 25-100% cheaper in *Europe* (ie, as
- if they are cheaper here than anywhere else). That was certainly not what I
- meant.
